The Momentum
Innovation showcase and demo sessions
This afternoon session will offer a fast-moving series of simultaneous discussion platforms for knowledge-sharing, demonstrating tools, products and services, and getting advice from AI experts

Table 1: Practical integrations of autonomous vehicles into public transport
James West, Northern Europe Business Development, Padam Mobility

The HertsLynx CAM On-Demand project analysed the potential for autonomous buses to deliver on-demand services to Maylands Business Park in Hertfordshire, synthesising transport demand data and CAV-appropriate routing to connect two stations which are otherwise poorly connected with the business park.
This presentation will explore routes that are now viable for current and near term ready AVs, how demand for these routes can be projected and the optimal fleet and timetable combination of on-demand and fixed line buses to be viable. It will also explore the Sustainicity open access toolkit for calculating ROI for automated bus services.
Table 2: Using AI to take citizens on the transport journey
Oliver Deed, Managing Director, ECF

This talk will look at the future of citizen engagement and provide an overview of the user-centric tools that have emerged in the past few years, and how these are being applied to world of active travel in particular. The talk will run through tools like Hello Lamp Post, Beta Streets, Dembrane and Digital Urban, and speak to how these are enhancing an organisation's ability to reach a diverse range of the citizenry, in the pursuit of dialogue, rather than conflict. These tools are being pioneered successfully by the local authorities such as Newham Council
Table 3: An AI solution to manage national street lighting Assets
Steve Isaacs, Asset Manager, Univrses, and Johanna Thorn, Customer Success Manager, Univrses

In 2023 National Highways identified a need to improve its street lighting inventory. National Highways engaged with WSP as their street lighting consultants. WSP linked with Univrses, a Swedish computer vision and AI company, and together the three parties have facilitated and developed a unique solution
Table 4: Optioneering transport interventions
Robert Harwood, CEO & Joe Leach, Senior Engineer, SimAnalytica

SimAnalytica is a software solutions provider applying advanced data science and AI to accelerate decarbonisation and build climate resilience. Our applications automatically connect disconnected data and integrate siloed analytics to empower decision makers to take a systems view of place – so enabling limitless optioneering spanning transport, environmental, energy, carbon and major infrastructure programmes.

Table 5: Breaking Data Silos: Empowering Decision-Making Through Data Integration
Iona Chandler, Partnership Manager, UrbanTide

This session explores the transformative potential of integrated data for transport planning using UrbanTide’s uMove platform. Learn the importance of data integration, seamless exchange, and multimodal analysis. Discover how accessible, actionable data breaks barriers, empowering innovative, inclusive transport solutions that drive smarter, more sustainable outcomes for planning and delivery.

Table 6: AI for model generation in transport
Darren Chitty, Research Fellow, University of Exeter and Chris Underwood, Senior Software Engineer, City Science
Currently, traffic modelling is a lengthy process that requires significant human intervention to build complex models. Using case studies, this talk will explore automating many of these challenges using AI. It will look at the challenges in sourcing appropriate models and data; the wide range of potential machine learning and optimisation algorithms and explain how actionable insights and tools can be delivered from the application of AI.
Table 7: AI report writing & document automation
Andrew Browning, CEO, SchemeFlow
This session will look at the latest developments in AI technology, and why you might never have to draft a technical report from scratch again! We'll share tips and tricks you can use for free today, and we'll also show you the latest in state of the art technology. We'll give you a view of what types of projects and reports, transport planners across the UK are using this technology for, and have plenty of time for questions and discussion

Table 8: IVORY – ‘AI for Vision Zero in Road Safety’
Richard Owen, IVORY Doctoral Education and Training Committee Chair & CEO, Agilysis
IVORY is an industrial doctorates network, aiming to develop a new framework for the integration of AI in road safety and create a new generation of leading researchers in the field, in order to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals target 3.6 (halving the number of traffic fatalities by 2030) and EC ‘Vision Zero’ strategy (eliminating traffic fatalities by 2050). It consists of partners from engineering, data science and ethics from 10 countries. It will train 15 researchers on new responsible AI applications for road user assistance and infrastructure safety management, and will create a sustainable learning and networking platform

Table 9: Detect>Act>
Evaluate: Using AI for real-time detection solutions
Peter Cattell, Head of Technical Sales, Clearview Intelligence Group
Clearview Intelligence has developed an intelligent camera capable of accurately classifying all objects it detects, and this data can be used to understand the behaviour of different types of road users. The device can now be deployed in real time to detect incidents or events and trigger appropriate responses
